Who are we?

We are Al Quds Group for Palestinian Folklore;a group that was established in 1982 with the main goal of emphasizing and spreading the Palestinian popular heritage abroad. Our group consists of more than 60 volunteers - including administration - motivated only by their love to their homeland and their belief in the power of popular culture to reserve their rights.

Our several performances (including musicals, brief dance sketches, and songs) symbolize the history of Palestine and its people's struggle for their legitimate right to return to historic Palestine.

من نحن؟

نحن فرقة القدس للتراث الشعبي الفلسطيني؛ فرقة تأسست عام ١٩٨٢، وكان الهدف الرئيس من إنشائها تعزيز ونشر التراث الفلسطيني في الشتات.

تتالف فرقتنا من أكثر من ستين عضوا متطوعا من كافة الأعمار يعملون دون توقف بدافع حبهم لوطنهم وايمانهم العميق بدور التراث الشعبي بالحفاظ على كامل حقوقهم الشرعية.

جميع أعمالنا تقوم برواية حكاية فلسطين بأسلوب غنائي راقص وتؤكد على الحق الشرعي للشعب الفلسطينيبالعودة لكامل التراب الفلسطيني.

ماذا نفعل؟

نعتمد في روايتنا لحكاية معاناة الشـعب الفلـسطـيني، بشكل رئيس على الدبكة والاغاني والألحان الشعبية الفلسطينية لانتاج لوحات فنية غنية بالألوان والحركة.

مع مرور الوقت قمنا بادخال الحركات التعبيرية لتقوم بخدمة الرسالة التي ننوي توجيهها ألا وهي الحفاظ على العادات والتراث و الثقافة الفلسطينية ونشرها.

What Do We Do?

We narrate the story of the Palestinian People and their struggle through musicals and theatrical productions. We use ‘Dabkeh’ – the traditional Palestinian dance – as a main tool to deliver our message. Along with expressive dances and popular Palestinian songs, we fulfill our mission to spread and preserve Palestinian culture and tradition.

كيف نفعل ذلك؟

تعتمد فرقتنا على لجانها المختلفة من ادارة وتصميم الحركة و التدريب، الملابس والاكسسوار ولجنة الاعلام، بالاضافة الى بعض الكتّاب والملحنين لانتاج عروض مسرحية وغنائية سنوية.

ان فرقتنا هي من الفرق الممولة ذاتيا؛ حيث تسعى الفرقة أحيانا للاستعانة ببعض الهيئات والشركات المحلية التي تؤمن بأهمية المحافظة على التراث لرعاية عروضها بتقديم الدعم المادي والاعلامي.

And How?

Through the collaborative efforts of our administration, choreography and training, clothing and accessories, and media committees, in addition to efforts of guest writers and composers, we design and produce annual musicals and theatrical productions.

Our group is self-funded; using the revenues of our performances to cover production costs. Occasionally, we seek further unconditional sponsorship from various parties who share our belief in the importance of fulfilling our mission.
